Discover the places of memory of the First World War around Lille. This part of the front, between Fromelles and Armentieres, was the scene of episodic but bloody battles.
At Fromelles, on 19 and 20 July 1916, 5500 Australians were killed, taken prisoner or missing; discover this tragic story by visiting the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles.
Armentières, located in the immediate vicinity of the front, lived at the English hour during these 4 years of war. We will take you to this city completely destroyed by the withdrawal of the German troops in April 1918, then rebuilt in the neo-Flemish regionalist style.
