Temporary exhibition gallery - Louvre Lens museum

The Louvre-Lens museum highlights Mesopotamia, a brilliant civilization that never ceases to fascinate. Situated for the most part in present-day Iraq, Mesopotamia is considered "the cradle of history".
At the origin of the invention of writing, the first cities and the first dynasties, the Mesopotamian civilization also gave a refined literature and art and advanced the sciences, religion and philosophy.
More than 400 works - some of which have never been shown - recall 3000 years of history and remind us of the importance of this exceptional world heritage, now threatened by the tragic situation in the Middle East.
