On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, the group "Histoire et Patrimoine Démocratie Participative" offers you to follow the journey of Louis XIV of Fives to the Porte de Paris and tell you through the Old Lille the evolution of the city and its influence on urbanization.
The tour leaves from the Tourist Office to join the farm of Louis XIV in Fives, the starting point. Then he goes to the Calvary of the God of Marcq before entering Lille, Boulevard Louis XIV, which brings you Porte de Paris. From this gate, you reach the Place du Théâtre, then you enter the Old Lille past the Hotel d'Avelin, the Maison des Bleuets, the Porte de Gand, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, the Rue de Gand and its houses inscribed in the Historical Monuments, the works with horns, bastions and barracks, the Rue d'Angleterre. Finally, you discover the new Lille of the time and the urban transformations rue Négrier, rue Royale, rue Voltaire and rue de St André. On the way back, the facades of the Esplanade and the Citadel close this circuit before returning tothe place Rihour.
