In 2023, the Musée d'art moderne de Villeneuve d'Ascq celebrates its 40th anniversary.
To mark its 40th anniversary, the LaM is devoting its first major retrospective in France to the Japanese-American artist and designer Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988).
A true link between East and West, transcending borders and artistic categories, Noguchi embodies an open and decompartmentalized vision of art that still influences contemporary creation today.
Through more than 250 works (sculptures, drawings, design objects, set design objects, photographs), this exhibition, exceptional both in its scope and in the issues it highlights, invites visitors to discover the kaleidoscopic work of an artist who is little known in Europe, yet who has made a lasting mark on history.
