TRANS-SIBERIAN FESTIVAL - December 13th & 14th, 2019

The Trans-Siberian Festival Youth Station is the first European stop of a journey launched in 2014 in Novosibirsk by Vadim Repin at the head of the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. Numerous stations of the festival bring different continents together, and this time Lille will host this European station initiated by Jean-Claude Casadesus, Vadim Repin and Marina Bower.

It is underlined by the creation of the TranSiberian Festival Youth Orchestra that gathers selected musicians from the Orchestre des Jeunes d’Île-de-France, Jeune Orchestre du Hainaut-Cambrésis and Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes de l’Oural. Two chamber music concerts will bring together renowned soloists and young musicians. Others will have an opportunity to join public masterclasses.
Three festive days offering quintets, concertos and symphonic works that will have a motto of excellence, Russia and Youth!

Schumann paved the way for a rich and powerful musical form, a quintet in which the piano is either in contrast or in a dialogue, sometimes in opposition with the quartet. Tchaikovsky found a less ambivalent and less tormented balance in his sextet to depict in a poetic form his stay in Tuscany. Two magnificent moments of music in which the artists mingle… as well as generations:
Two young talented musicians will perform alongside the greatest artists.

At the end of 19th century Brahms and then Dvorak took on the challenge of establishing a rich and powerful form of quintet. They left two masterpieces in which the piano is either in contrast or in a dialogue, sometimes in opposition with the quartet in which the artists mingle… as well as generations:

Here you will hear three heroic, festive works which are totally different. The truculence à la Rossini of the father of Russian music will contrast with the ironic and disillusioned patriotism of Shostakovich. For the second time in this festival the young conductor David Molard Soriano will share the baton with his elder master, Jean-Claude Casadesus who will  join three greatest soloists of our time to reach the heights of Beethoven’s form and melody.
