Familiar shapes of cities of the north of France, the belfries are a symbol of the power and the independance of the towns since the Medieval Ages. They become again thoses vehicles of greatness, political or economical, from the end of the 19th century, assuring visually, through their regionalist shapes and style, a local identity.
This tour will take you to the discovery of belfries and town halls of the metropolis of Lille, including some that are designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit covers the entry and ascension in one of the buildings.

The 20s and 30s represent a particularly rich period in the arts and specifically in architecture. The metropolis of Lille has a great diversity (Art Deco, modernism, neo-Flemish, Anglo-Norman) linked to a growing need for housing and equipment, and for some cities, a need for reconstruction following the ravages of the First World War. It is this discovery that invites you to this tour by bus between Tourcoing and Comines, including the visit of a jewel of this time, the church of Saint Chrysole, recently restored.

Discover the places of memory of the First World War around Lille. This part of the front, between Fromelles and Armentieres, was the scene of episodic but bloody battles.
At Fromelles, on 19th and 20th July 1916, 5500 Australians were killed, taken prisoner or missing; discover this tragic story by visiting the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles.
Armentières, located in the immediate vicinity of the front, lived at the English hour during these 4 years of war. We will take you to this city completely destroyed by the withdrawal of the German troops in April 1918, then rebuilt in the neo-Flemish regionalist style.
