Every year, the Société des Amis de La Piscine organizes lectures on current major exhibitions and art history.

"Foujita, the "Japonard" of the Roaring Twenties" by Isabelle Lefebvre
During the Roaring Twenties, Foujita, a member of the Ecole de Paris, moved between two cultures: his respectful Japanese roots and France. All media are welcome for this frenetic artist, from small watercolors, his immense odalisques, cats, children and self-portraits, to matchboxes. From the hustle and bustle of Parisian life to the frescoes in the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix chapel he had built in Reims following his baptism. His monumental canvases of Kiki de Montparnasse and Youki are a remarkable ode to sensuality. La Piscine retains the venerable "Au café", a theme favored by 19th-century artists such as Manet and Degas. In 2018, "Au café" was transferred to the prestigious museums of Japan, where it was returned to its rightful place in the museum.
