1958, Noeux-Les-Mines, a small mining town in northern France. Pierre and Vlad, two inseparable friends, share their daily lives between the underground galleries, raising carrier pigeons and playing in the local orchestra. Around them gravitates Sosthène, a truculent character who is both a barrel of laughs and a bar-room philosopher, who enlivens this small community where joie de vivre resists the coal dust.
But the arrival of Leila, a pretty accordionist who joins the orchestra, will forever upset the balance of this fraternal friendship. A rift opens between the two companions, revealing the frailties of the human heart.
After _Adieu Monsieur Haffmann_ and _Le Petit Coiffeur_, Jean-Philippe Daguerre has written a deeply human work, in which historical drama and universal reflections are combined with tenderness and finesse. A play about friendship, love and the choices that shape our destinies, carried by an authentic and endearing mining world.
A critical and public triumph, this show was awarded 5 Molières 2025, including Best Show in a Private Theater and Best Direction for Jean-Philippe Daguerre, confirming the accuracy of this touching and universal creation.
