EUPHORIE(S) - Exposition Sciences Po Lille

  • Exhibition / Fair / Open Day
9 Rue Auguste Angellier, 59000 Lille
In 2019, Sciences Po Lille hosted its first contemporary art exhibition. In 2021, the association was back in business after a year disrupted by the health crisis. This was the opportunity to propose a double exhibition, "BRIQUE(S) & NAUFRAGE", to renew the project aborted in 202, coupling it with a new theme. In 2022, on the occasion of the closing weekend of Lille3000, the association proposed the exhibition "TRANSGRESSION(S)". Then, the theme "JE(U)" set the tone for the 2023 edition. Finally, the theme of the 2024 exhibition was "(RE)NAISSANCE".

Hundreds of visitors over the exhibition weekends and the connections created between artists, students and local cultural players have encouraged us to repeat the experience with great enthusiasm. The idea is to exhibit young artists and create a space for dialogue around contemporary art, while opening the doors of Sciences Po Lille.

We are back this year with the "EUPHORIE(S)" exhibition, in line with Lille 3000?s "FIESTA" theme, and will be open to the public from October 3, 2025 to October 6, 2025.
\----------------------------------------
Euphoria is defined as a ?feeling of general well-being?, an ?intense sensation of well-being, optimism? or a ?feeling of great joy, satisfaction, contentment?, which can therefore be related to the feeling experienced (or sought) at a ?fiesta?

The term ?fiesta?, defined as ?animated collective rejoicing? or ?party, feast? evokes a festive, joyous and light-hearted moment, a space of freedom and sharing, inviting us to experience that feeling of well-being, joy, satisfaction... that is euphoria. The ?fiesta? is seen as a carefree moment, a space of freedom where we can forget the worries and problems of everyday life.

The term can also be considered in its plural form, in that a fiesta tends to be shared, but euphoria can also be experienced alone, and representations and feelings of euphoria can be diverse.

Focusing on euphoria(s) as part of the ?Fiesta? theme will also make it possible to address issues such as the presence and place of alcohol and drugs in these moments of celebration and sharing, and to question their addictive aspect, and therefore a certain dependence on this euphoria (we might think here of the eponymous series ?Euphoria?, broadcast by HBO).

It also raises questions about the purpose and consequences of ?fiesta? the aim would be to feel a certain euphoria, to escape one?s problems and experience joy or even happiness, but this sensation is temporary and ephemeral. But is it really happiness? What about the return to reality?
On the other hand, choosing ?fiesta? and euphoria can also mean resisting fear: here, we think of Parisians and French people out on the terrace, enjoying concerts and parties the day after the attacks. Here, continuing to party means continuing to live and resist.
