It's a party! People gather, drink, smile, shout and let loose. Decorum and respect for rules are forgotten in favor of fun, laughter and indulgence. In this way, the party becomes a social outlet where everyone can forget their worries and professional and family obligations.
The party is par excellence a time of ritualized exaltation, when adults rediscover their childlike ability to live the present moment to the full, through song, dance and communion with others. Everything seems possible again, and while it's true that when the party's over, we often find ourselves smeared, our brains in a knot, our voices hoarse and our legs tired, the exhilaration that has now passed leaves us with a tiny seed of joy that's just waiting to blossom at the first opportunity.
