Pilar Albarracín (Seville) is one of the most established Spanish artists of her generation, recognized on the international art scene. In her multidisciplinary work (video, performance, installation, photography, crafts), she combines social commitment with formal aesthetics. Her denunciation of inequality and prejudice coexists with humor and color.
She offers the public a polychromatic vision of Spanish culture. In this way, Pilar Albarracín is committed to preserving traditions, while promoting their proper understanding. In particular, she emphasizes the need for development through contemporary prisms of thought.
For Fiesta, Pilar Albarracín presents a number of works on the theme of festivity and the various possibilities for celebration.
At Maison Folie Moulins, Pilar Albarracín presents new productions inspired by the mantón de Manila, a traditional Spanish shawl worn during festivities. In this exhibition, she takes a humorous look at cultural heritage, ritual and stereotypes. She deconstructs the false moralism hidden behind clichés and combats the essentialism that conceives of identities as something static.
