Following the housing shortage after the Second World War, 2 ? Métropole? designed by Henri and Jean Prouvé were built on an experimental basis in Tourcoing in 1952. You can visit the one that burned down in 1996 and was restored to its original condition in 1999. The 2 dwellings are protected as evidence of post-war research into social housing and modular, low-cost housing.
