* _La Petite Suite_ was commissioned from Witold Lutoslawski by Warsaw Radio in 1950. The composer takes Polish folk melodies and turns them into unheard-of orchestral textures. There is nothing sad about Ravel's _Tombeau de Couperin_, imagined in 1920. The composer pays homage to the great 18th-century musician François Couperin. A work of French refinement and nostalgia. In 1829, Felix Mendelssohn visited Scotland. The wild landscapes of the Highlands were to inspire his _Third Symphony_. At times dreamy and nostalgic, the work at other times takes on a heroic, fiery character.
