WAJDI RIAHI + KHAM MESLIEN

  • Concert
100 Rue de Tournai, 59200 Tourcoing
Wajdi Riahi, who has already performed twice at the Tourcoing Jazz Festival (first as part of a trio, then with Adèle Viret), returns this time as a solo pianist. Born in Tunisia and based in Brussels, pianist Wajdi Riahi is one of the most promising names on the Belgian jazz scene. In addition to accompanying several projects (Stéphane Galland?s Rhythm Hunters, Aleph Quintet, Fabrice Allemand?), he offers a solo piano repertoire drawing on his multiple influences, imbued with gentleness and emotion. His own compositions are interspersed with jazz standards and classical pieces, testifying to his Arab roots and his love of jazz.

Kham Meslien explores a solo that marks the turning point after twenty years in Lo?Jo: Kham Meslien now explores the freedom of jazz and instrumental compositions. His first solo album, Fantômes?Futurs (2022), was hailed by the critics and his concerts widely acclaimed. Accompanied by a looper, charango and percussion, he superimposes loops and improvisations, evoking Henri Texier or Nils Frahm. After a remix EP in 2023, he continues his introspective and musical adventure on stage, to be discovered at the Tourcoing Jazz Club!

Partnership: Tourcoing Jazz and Centre Culturel Mouscron
