Description
Created in 2004 by architect Pierre-Louis Carlier, the Colysée owes its name to the "Colysée Royal", a local 18th-century party venue. Le Colysée is one of the Maisons Folie in the Lille metropolitan area. The Fabriques network is a group of multi-disciplinary structures operating in various districts of the metropolis, and currently comprises 11 facilities. These venues work hand in hand to offer a rich, varied and coherent cultural program to the inhabitants of the metropolitan area.
Le Colysée is first and foremost a place of discovery, open to the world and open to all. It offers artistic, educational and entertaining exhibitions, as well as cultural events throughout the year. Exhibitions focus on the preservation of species and the enhancement of nature - Fleurs, Vert bitume, Climat, Retour au jardin, un Monde fragile?
In parallel with each exhibition, a cultural program is offered to the public: conferences, screenings, shows for young audiences, children?s and parents? workshops, walks and convivial moments are organized to go further into the theme addressed in the exhibition or simply enjoy a moment of encounter and relaxation.
Finally, in fine weather, the plain around the Colysée comes alive! On certain weekends, street performances transform this strolling and leisure area into an open-air theater.
