The Dominican friars have been present in Lille since 1224. The current convent, inaugurated in 1957, is a jewel of contemporary architecture. Listed in the Monuments Historiques supplementary inventory, it is the first religious building to be classified as a twentieth-century heritage site. The convent is the work of architects Pierre Pinsard and Neil Hutchinson. It is made of brick and concrete, but also of light and greenery. It is set in a two-hectare park planted with trees.
