Begun in 1453 by Philippe Le Bon, Duke of Burgundy, it is one of Lille's rare vestiges of flamboyant Gothic architecture.
On the first floor, the Salle des Gardes, which today houses the Tourist Office. Upstairs, the Salle du Conclave and the sacristy, with its superb stained-glass windows, are used for events.
The site was listed as a historic monument in 1875.
