Bike home in Lille

Lille has cyclists in mind! All along your route, you’ll come across attentive professionals, easily identifiable thanks to the Accueil Vélo label. This national certification guarantees touring cyclists a warm welcome and quality services along the cycle paths. Accommodation, restaurants, rental firms, repair shops… everything is there to simplify your life on two wheels. And if you’re passing through Place Rihour, just drop in at the Lille Tourist Office: we’ve also been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” label! Where to rent a bike in Lille?

Looking to rent a bike in Lille? Several specialized establishments are at your service, such as:

For an even more convenient option, the V’Lille service from the Ilévia network offers bikes for rent in a simple, quick, and affordable way, allowing you to move easily around the entire Lille Metropole. For those less sporty, the city also offers electric bikes for self-service. Ready to pedal?

Bikes  on public transport

  • Tramway

    The tramway accepts bicycles free of charge, up to a limit of two per train, one at each end (head or tail), outside rush hours. Folding bicycles are allowed on the entire network.

  • Metro and bus

    Bicycles, normal or folding, are not accepted on the metro, nor on the bus. A map of the metropolitan public transport network is available from the Lille Tourist Office reception desk.

  • TER

    TER trains (Lille Flandres station) accept bicycles (subject to availability), without reservation. They must be placed in the dedicated spaces indicated by a pictogram.

  • TGV
    • TGV INOUI (Lille Europe and Lille Flandres stations)

    Bicycles in a 130 cm x 90 cm bag (front wheel removed) and folding bicycles are accepted free of charge as hand luggage.

    • TGV OUIGO (Lille Flandres station)

    The “Vélo” option is compulsory (€5), and a luggage locker is available to lighten your load at Lille Europe station: hall 1, Parvis de Rotterdam exit.

Where to repair your bike yourself?

If you run into a little trouble on the road, don’t worry! A pump and emergency equipment are available at the Lille Metropolitan Tourist Office, located at Place Rihour. You can also make minor repairs to your bike at our four other locations in Armentières, Roubaix, Tourcoing, and Villeneuve d’Ascq, as well as at establishments accredited by Accueil Vélo. The Métropole Européenne de Lille also provides service areas. These free, 24/7 accessible stations are equipped with pumps to inflate your bike, benches for a break, and maps to help you navigate easily. In the center of Lille, you’ll find one such station at the front of Lille Flandres station.
