Reducing the ecological footprint  of your trip

More and more travellers are choosing responsible tourism, taking into account its environmental, social, and economic impacts. While tourism is about discovery, it also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. The Lille Metropolis destination is committed to this cause through the ‘Destination Innovante et Durable’ label. As part of this initiative, we help you calculate and offset the ecological impact of your trip.

I calculate the carbon impact of my trip

Becoming aware of the environmental impact of your travel is the first step towards taking action. Using a carbon footprint calculator allows you to measure the greenhouse gas emissions associated with your stay. These tools, based on ADEME’s Bilan Carbone® methodology, help you easily estimate the climate impact of your activities.

I contribute by supporting a local project

Why contribute locally?

While tourism is a source of discovery and relaxation, it also contributes to global greenhouse gas emissions. Contributing locally means investing in environmental projects and encouraging nearby sustainable practices.

Support local projects with a positive environmental and social impact by making a financial contribution! Two initiatives can currently be supported in our destination:

  • A certified low-carbon agricultural project located in the Lille Metropolis (Bousbecque), where your direct support helps fund effective carbon reduction efforts.
  • A project led by the Fondation de Lille, aimed at funding access to holidays (using sustainable transport) or eco-friendly leisure activities for low-income households in the metropolitan area.

After contributing, you will receive a certificate and/or a receipt as proof of your commitment to these sustainable initiatives.
