In this decidedly contemporary piece, Clara celebrates her 18th birthday. As she slips out at night to meet her friends, the demons of her childhood resurface. The mysterious Nutcracker then appears to help her confront them, marking the beginning of a rite of passage and the blossoming of first love.
Driven by the tremendous energy of some fifteen young European talents, this ballet preserves Tchaikovsky’s indispensable score while infusing it with a deeply contemporary and eclectic aesthetic. A refreshing reinterpretation that breathes new life into this classic, capable of enchanting audiences of all generations.
