For its reopening, the LaM is reimagining the display of its collection with a new, original thematic exhibition titled _Obsession_.%A0
Conceived as an exhibition, it explores repetition, permanence, and creative intensity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries through a unique dialogue between modern art, art brut, and contemporary art.%A0
Certain monographic galleries dedicated to major figures in art—such as Amedeo Modigliani, Henry Darger, and Miriam Cahn—alternate with thematic spaces offering a vibrant and fresh reinterpretation of the collection.%A0
To enrich this experience, exceptional works from the National Center for Visual Arts (Cnap) and recent acquisitions—such as a rare drawing by Amedeo Modigliani—are featured throughout the exhibition, creating new connections and unexpected dialogues.
The second part of this exhibition, housed in the building designed by Manuelle Gautrand—which remains closed for the time being—will open on June 12. Focusing primarily on art brut, it will explore the theme of obsession through several avenues, such as ritual, automatic writing, spiritualism, surveying, the garden, and inventors. The exhibition will feature a monographic collection of works by Auguste Forestier, the Spiritist artists, and Théo Wiesen’s totems, as well as other major works from the museum’s collection.
