Exposition "Roubaix Génie Textile"

From raw material manufacturers to training schools, including artists and garment makers? **The industry is thriving**. From recently established businesses to historic buildings, and from artisans and self-employed entrepreneurs to small and medium-sized enterprises, they all contribute to Roubaix’s identity as a textile city. They have forged ties with the region and maintain a special relationship with it, its residents, and its history. Since deindustrialization, the industry no longer looks the same as it did in the 19th and 20th centuries, when Roubaix was the “wool capital.” Nevertheless, **the textile industry continues to be part of the city’s DNA and to weave its history**. Proof of this is that **more than 70 textile companies** are now based in Roubaix. They are committed to research and innovation, sustainable development, social integration, artistic creation, and the preservation and transmission of traditional craftsmanship. **Come meet them!** Higher education institutions that train the textile engineers and designers of tomorrow; major fashion and ready-to-wear brands founded in and still based in Roubaix; research and development centers at the cutting edge of innovation; artisan garment makers preserving traditional skills; artists working with a variety of techniques and media; and engaged residents with innovative ideas… You’ll find all of this in Roubaix! This exhibition offers a snapshot of the richness and diversity of the community in the area, like a “textile snapshot” of Roubaix in 2026, rooted in an undeniable history and industrial heritage.
