Inauguration of the Lapidary Room and Lecture by the Friends of Comines: Exceptional Nobles—Jean! The de La Clyte family, lords of Comines in the 15th century, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Chrysole Church. Self-guided tours of historic monuments: City Hall and St. Chrysole Church, as well as the exhibition “The Church and City Hall in Perspective,” on view at both sites. Exhibition at the Heritage House: “Memories of Comines Castle, 926–1926: 1,000 Years of History” Heritage Scavenger Hunt on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., organized by the Municipal Youth Committee—Meet at Grand Place **The Cases of Dr. Toc-Toc & Check and Pat** %C0 To celebrate European Heritage Days, discover Comines’ heritage with your family using the game kits %AB Dr. Toc-Toc’s Files and %C9chec and Pat %BB, %E0 available for free %E0 at City Hall, the Maison du Patrimoine, or the Saint-Chrysole Church. Through puzzles, observations, and riddles, young and old alike will set out to discover local heritage that is fragile or has disappeared. Dr. Toc-Toc’s Files highlight, in particular, the relics of the lords of Comines as well as the stone remains discovered in 1925 beneath theSaint-Chrysole Church, coinciding with the inauguration of the new lapidary gallery and the centennial of the designation of the tombs of John I of La Clyte and Jeanne of Ghistelles as historic monuments. **FOCUS ON THE LAPIDARY ROOM** Housed in the former storage room of the bell tower of Saint-Chrysole Church, the Lapidary Room now houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to a remarkable collection of archaeological, funerary, and religious artifacts. Discovered in 1925 beneath the church during its reconstruction, these restored artifacts bear witness to the history and heritage of Comines. This new space offers the public the opportunity to discover these precious artifacts from the past in a setting entirely dedicated to showcasing them.
