Description
For its reopening, the LaM is rethinking the way it displays its collection, with a new, original thematic route entitled _Obsession_.
Conceived as an exhibition, it explores repetition, permanence and creative intensity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, through an unprecedented dialogue between modern art, art brut and contemporary art.
Monographic rooms dedicated to major art figures such as Amedeo Modigliani, Henry Darger and Miriam Cahn alternate with thematic spaces offering a lively and renewed rereading of the collection.
To enrich this experience, exceptional pieces from the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) and recent acquisitions, such as a rare drawing by Amedeo Modigliani, punctuate the tour, creating new connections and unexpected dialogues.
The second part of the tour, presented in the Manuelle Gautrand-designed building, still closed for the time being, will be unveiled from June 12. Mainly devoted to Art Brut, it will develop the theme of obsession through several axes, such as ritual, automatic writing, spiritualism, surveying, the garden and inventors. You'll find a monographic collection of works by Auguste Forestier, the Spiritist artists, Théo Wiesen?s totems and other major works from the museum?s collection.
