Description
The French organ school boasts a repertoire spanning several centuries of music. Numerous composers - also improvisers - held a renowned Parisian organ loft throughout these different eras (St-Gervais, St-Paul, La Madeleine, Ste-Clotilde, Notre-Dame, etc.), and a French filiation was established from generation to generation through great pedagogues, in line with the evolution of organ building.
The program proposed for the concert briefly retraces the evolution of the "French style": classical, post-classical, modern (with a brief passage through the romantic and symphonic styles, less suited to the instrument), well highlighted by the construction and colors of the organ in the church of St-Martin in Roubaix, up to the present day through improvisation.
The repertoire presented during the master class, though free, will be in keeping with the history of the French organ (excluding romantic and symphonic pieces).
