The Ascq 1944 Memorial commemorates the massacre of 86 civilians** by soldiers of the 12th SS Hitlerjugend division on the night of April 1 to 2, 1944.
Installed on the main site of the executions, the Ascq 1944 Memorial evokes the event and **places it in the history of the Occupation of Northern France**.
The Memorial is also **a place for reflection on the fate of civilians during the war**
Its aim is to convey **a message of peace, tolerance and fraternity** between people.
