Originally designed to protect the worn-out knees of gold prospectors, jeans took off, setting out to conquer a West captivated by the American Dream, and eventually dressed the entire world. Weaving their way into our daily lives, they have become a wardrobe staple, a means of self-expression that proclaims our identity, and a blank canvas upon which designers past and present express themselves.
