On stage, a little clown in a yellow jumpsuit and his green sidekicks navigate loneliness, the absurd, and joy with disarming simplicity, capable in a single gesture of shifting the audience from fits of laughter to thetenderest emotion. The music, lighting effects, and a now-iconic set design create a sensory journey where a phone booth, a coat, a large canvas covering the audience, or a flurry of confetti take on the appearance of a waking dream.
