Far from the usual clichés about the Crusades, Asnapio invites the Lords of the East to showcase the full diversity and richness of the medieval Middle East. The splendor of silks and brocades, the quality of chain mail and Frankish swords, sabers and lamellar armor, the comfort of rugs and cushions—all of this under a kha’ma tent, the only one of its kind in France! More than 45 participants in full historical costume will bring to life the court of the King of Jerusalem in the 12th century and the warriors of the Mongol steppes in the 13th century. In the largest encampment ever hosted in the park, reenactors will discuss weaponry, hygiene and health, coin minting, trade, and spices. Military performances, ceremonial events related to chivalry, and fashion shows will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Sat: military show and knighthood ceremony at 3:30 p.m., tribute ceremony and fashion show at 4:30 p.m., military show at 5:15 p.m. Sun: military show at 11:30 a.m., military show and knighting ceremony at 3:00 p.m., fashion show and tribute ceremony at 6:00 p.m. The Military Hospitaller and Teutonic Orders will also be present, showcasing the art of combat, including staged duelswill be performed by experienced fighters in European Historical Martial Arts (EHMA). Activities for young audiences will invite children to try their hand at combat maneuvers, archery, or shooting with mini-ballistae. Featuring storytelling, music, songs, and street theater, the show “Yolda!” %BB will offer a poetic journey inspired by the Silk Road and nomadic traditions. Accompanied by a life-size camel puppet, the musicians, storytellers, and singers will move among the visitors and invite them to symbolically entrust their “troubles” to the animal, which will transform them into stories, songs, music, and messages of hope. A collective, heartfelt, and joyful experience!
