Description

This 18th-century Catholic church, richly decorated with paintings, stained glass and liturgical furnishings, was designed by architect Thomas-Joseph Gombert and became a parish church in 1796, under the name of Saint André, following the abolition of religious orders. Between 1825 and 1845, Désiré Buisine-Rigot (1793-1881) helped create the liturgical furnishings (confessionals, stalls, panelling). Charles Stalars (1808-1876) and Joseph Hussenot (1827-1896) contributed to the ornamentation of the vaults and apse. Charles Gaudelet (1817-1880) created the stained-glass windows for the entire church, and Charles de Gaulle was baptized in the parish on rue Princesse.
