Description
The present-day church was built on the foundations of a 14th-century Gothic church, which was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1896. Reconstructed in neo-Byzantine style, the church was opened for worship in 1902.As soon as you enter the building, the dominant impression is of the generous luminosity provided by the many bays of the dome covering the transept crossing, attenuating the natural but well-proportioned massiveness of the style.During a tour of the church, you will be particularly impressed by the abundant and homogeneous furnishings, executed by a Hazebrouck craftsman, Mr. Pattein.
