In 1931, the Musée des Beaux-Arts moved into a handsome 1866 Roussel-Defontaine townhouse, representative of the architecture in vogue under Napoleon III. Since 2009, following an exceptional donation of over 600 works by Tourcoing-born Eugène Leroy, the museum has been known as the MUba Eugène Leroy. It presents its collections through a constant dialogue between classical, modern and contemporary art. Paintings, drawings and sculptures come together to initiate a thematic journey where we come face to face with Louis-Léopold Boilly, Rembrandt and Théodore Rombouts, with contemporaries such as Felten-Massinger, Antoine Petitprez and Philippe Cazal, or side by side with twentieth-century figures such as Martin Barré and Jean Fautrier. The permanent collections occupy half the exhibition space. They are regularly renewed to reflect the major temporary exhibitions scheduled two or three times a year.
