Not far from the memorial park, the V.C. Corner cemetery and memorial pay tribute to the Australian victims of the offensive launched in front of Fromelles on July 19, 1916. Near two graves where more than 400 unknown soldiers are buried, the memorial lists the names of the 1208 Australians who disappeared at the end of the battle. 70 of them have been identified among the 250 remains discovered during the 2009 excavations in the nearby Pheasant Wood.
