Imagine arriving on a Saturday afternoon, the lights slowly fading from the golden façades of the Grand’Place.
The first tinsel lights up, the shop windows light up, and the air smells of mulled wine and stuffed waffles.
The evening begins with a moment of suspension: a ride on the Ferris Wheel as night falls.
Up there, Lille sparkles as far as the eye can see – an ocean of lights, bricks and joy.
You can then put your bags down in an arty bed and breakfast in Roubaix, a charming hotel in the heart of Lille, or a gîte with a crackling fire in the fireplace.
It’s the perfect way to savour the warmth of the North and its inimitable sense of welcome.
Dinner will take you from the simple pleasures of a Flemish estaminet to the audacity of a bistronomic restaurant – or why not the finesse of a Michelin-starred restaurant, of which there are many in the metropolis.
